Watching after children is a great responsibility and a huge job. I’ve done it in the past and I was way more tired the next day than I was when I go out on a full evening.
Baby sitting has changed a lot since I was younger and sitting for neighbours. Keeping them occupied seems to be a lot harder with attention spans being so short today. I would think games on the computer would be one of the best tools but you have to be so careful with many of the games today having adult themes even for youger ones.

This is a pretty good idea, the more experience the better when you’re leaving your children with a stranger. I like to make sure our babysitters are certified and experienced when taking care of our 4 year old.

For the sitter, knowing what kinds of games the child or children enjoy is a must. If the child isn’t entertained, then it will be a long day for all involved, plus the baby sitter is not likely to come back to your house again.

Treasure hunting was always one of my favorites when we had a sitter. I bet the poor girl could hardly wait to leave when my folks got home. I had 4 sisters and all the items used in the treasure hunt where hid again and again all night long. I’ve continue this tradition, you might say, with my grandkids. When they spend they night or are over for a special day it always includes a treasure hunt, they love it and as I did as a child what to do it over and over again.
